Objective:
Few, if any, legislative sessions had as many large scale health care policy and finance issues on the agenda before committee assignments were made, bills were introduced or budget targets were set. Providers spanning almost every point across the care continuum, health insurance companies, health care workers and caregivers, patients and families, the pharmaceutical companies . . . all had high stakes in the decisions made by a House riddled with new representatives, a Senate with a slim majority, and an untested governor. With so much on the line, it is likely that the impacts of the 2019 legislative session will reverberate through Minnesota’s health care system for years. This presentation will summarize the most significant outcomes from this year’s session and offer projections about how new laws and spending decisions will impact health care in practice.
