DESCRIPTION:Expectations of the New Work Force:\nLeading a Successful Multi-Generational Organization\n \nWednesday\, May 11\, 2016\n \n5:30 – 7:30 PM\n \n5:30 – 6:00 Networking/Appetizers\n6:00 – 7:30 – Presentation and Panel Discussion\n \nUniversity of Minnesota Health Maple Grove Clinics\n14500 99th Ave. N Maple Grove\, MN 55369\n \n1.5 ACHE Qualified Education Credits\n \nDescription:\n \nHuman Resource Leaders from across the spectrum of care will cover the topic of multiple generations in the workplace.  Each leader will identify and present the top initiatives\, processes\, and changes within their organizations pertaining to multi-generational issues and opportunities.  The meeting will conclude with a panel discussion including the following learning objectives: \n \n 1.      Identify how organizations are leveraging culture to influence and develop strong multigenerational relationships and improve interaction between the organization and the patient. \n2.      Discuss the challenges that can arise/have arisen from recruiting employees from various generations\, identifying the benefits of having a generationally diverse team. \n3.      Identify the roles that executives play in setting a tone of intergenerational inclusion or sensitivity in resolving multigenerational conflict.  Address how healthcare organizations should address disruptive generational conflict in the workplace. 4\n4.      Identify how delayed retirement by senior employees\, as a result of a downturn in the economy\, has affected organizations. \n \n \nBiographies of Participants\n \nModerator:\nNicole Schell\, MBA\, FACHE\, PHR\, SHRM-CP\nChief Human Resources Officer\, Douglas County Hospital\, Alexandria\, MN \nNicole has functional responsibility for human resources\, payroll\, education\, employee health\, food and nutrition services\, and environmental services.  Additionally\, Nicole has responsibility for leading organizational development\, leadership development\, and cultural change initiatives within the organization.  Nicole’s work experience has been dedicated to the healthcare industry in a variety of settings.  Nicole received her MBA in Health Administration from the University of Colorado and is board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. \n \nPanelists:\nRobin Dunbar Balck\nSenior Vice President of Administration & Chief Strategy Officer\, Ecumen\, Shoreview\, MN\nRobin is responsible for the creation\, alignment and execution of Ecumen’s overall business strategy and innovation process as well as the corporate functions of Human Resources\, Communications\, Strategic Initiatives and Organizational Development. As Chief Strategy Officer she leads Ecumen’s annual planning process to fulfill the goals of our 5-year strategic plan and works closely with other members of senior leadership to continually challenge the status quo and move our vision forward. People are at the core of innovation\, and her leadership is key to making Ecumen a great place to work by attracting\, developing and retaining top talent. During Robin’s leadership tenure\, Ecumen has been recognized nine times by the Minneapolis- St. Paul Business Journal as a Best Place to Work and also has been recognized as a top workplace by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Minnesota Monthly Magazine. Robin joined Ecumen from Safetran Systems\, where she served as head of human resources She has a diverse generalist background providing human resource strategic support to national companies. Robin received her B.A. in human resource management from St. Thomas University.\n \nBecky Rauen\nDirector of Human Resources\, Maple Grove Hospital\nBecky Rauen\, MA\, SHRM-SCP\, SPHR has been Maple Grove Hospital’s Director of Human Resources since 2015. Becky came to Maple Grove Hospital from Cuyuna Regional Medical Center where she led Human Resources for over 17 years\, most recently serving as Chief HR Officer.  She has been active in the Healthcare HR Association of MN and currently serves as the American Society for Healthcare HR Administration Region 6 Consultant.  She has a broad spectrum of HR leadership experience which is utilized daily in partnering with the organization to achieve it vision; Together\, healthcare the way it ought to be.  Becky has a strong passion for linking team member engagement and the customer experience.    The organizations she has served have been designated as a Top Workplace by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and achieved multiple recognitions on the Patient Experience. \n \n \nKit Brady\nVice President of Human Resources\, Education and Guest Experience\, Gillette Children’s Hospital\nKit Brady\, SHRM-SCP\, SPHR\, GBA has been Gillette’s vice president of human resources\, education and guest experience since 2014\, and was Gillette’s manager of human resources from 2003 – 2014. Brady received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and drama from the University of Dallas and a Master of Fine Arts degree in theater directing and management from the University of Minnesota. She also received a Master of Arts degree in human resources management from Concordia University.\n \nNickolas Nyhus\nVice President of Human Resources\, University of Minnesota Physicians\nNickolas is vice president human resources of University of Minnesota Physicians\, one of the nation’s largest academic health center physician providers with over 900 physicians\, 200 advanced practice providers\, 1\,600 health professionals and staff covering over 100 specialties and sub-specialty areas.\nNick has over 20 years’ experience in human resources in a variety of professional services firms. Prior to his current role\, he held a number of senior-level human resources positions at Ameriprise Financial\, U.S. Bancorp and the University of Santa Monica.\nNick holds a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Management. He is also holds numerous certifications\, including the Senior Professional in Human Resources designation.\n \n\n \n

The campus is a partnership between North Memorial and Fairview Health Services in an effort to better serve the northwest metro communities. \nAbout the speaker:\nCindy Bultena \nWith a genuine passion for patient care and a commitment to compassionate employee service\, Cindy Bultena is using her nursing experience to help fundamentally recreate hospital care for patients and families.  As the former Chief Nursing Officer at Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury\, Minnesota\, Bultena was instrumental in the creation and integration of a holistic patient and family centered care model for Woodwinds’ 86 bed inpatient hospital that opened in August 2000.  \nAs a result of her leadership and involvement in holistic care\, Bultena\, has been appointed to the role of Patient Experience Leader for the HealthEast 3 acute care hospitals.   Her role is to advance an exceptional patient experience modeled after the vision of creating the ultimate patient experience at Woodwinds.   Recently that role has been expanded to include the HE system.  Her focus is on creating consistent processes through the use of lead tools to advance the patient experience across the enterprise.  These processes\, when carried out by exceptional staff will help fulfill the HealthEast vision of “Optimal Health and Well -being for our Patients\, Our Communities and Ourselves.  \n \nApproved for 1.5 Qualified Education Credits – American College of Healthcare Executives.\n\n \nFAQs\n \nWhere can I contact the organizer with any questions?\nYour answer goes here\n
