Mental health struggles in youth are at an all-time high\, but when it comes to LGBTQ+ youth\, the numbers are even more alarming. Surrounded by local and national conversations regarding anti-LGBTQ+ laws and creation of LGBTQ+ safe haven states\, LGBTQ+ youth are at even higher risk of not receiving proper access to mental health care resources and services.  The Surgeon General calls to action all health leaders by stating\, “We all have a role to play in supporting youth mental health and creating a world where young people thrive”. \n\n42% in 2021 and 45% in 2022 of LGBTQ+ youth—and 52 percent of trans youth—said they seriously considered suicide. Attempted suicide rates also are higher for Black and Indigenous students. (National Education Associationand The Trevor Project)\nLGBTQ youth who live in a community that is accepting of LGBTQ people reported significantly lower rates of attempting suicide than those who do not. (The Trevor Project)\n60% of LGBTQ+ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it. (The Trevor Project)\n\nDuring this event\, experts in the LGBTQ+ youth mental health space will speak towards the current ecosystem within Minnesota and provide insights on how to create supportive environments for the success and improvement of LGBTQ+ youth mental health. \nA special thank you to our event sponsor UnitedHealth Group for supporting this important event. \nLight refreshments will be served. \nTickets:\nMembers: $5\nNon-Members: $10\nStudents: Free \nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ache-mn-nahse-heartland-networking-and-panel-discussion-tickets-900486678897 \nAs an independent chartered chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives\, the ACHE of Minnesota\, is authorized to award a total of 1.0 hours of ACHE Qualifying Education credits toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
