He has held senior level strategic planning and operational positions with Stillwater Medical Group (CAO)\, Center for Diagnostic Imaging\, Arizant Healthcare\, Park Nicollet Health System\, the University of Minnesota Hospital & Clinic and Hamilton KSA\, a national health care consulting company. Mr. Kaufmann has over 39 years’ experience in operations\, business development\, strategic planning\, marketing and physician relations. He speaks frequently at national healthcare forums and serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota in the Master’s Program in Health Care Administration\, the University of St. Thomas and the College of St. Scholastica. He is a past president of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development and is active in National Healthcare Associations and corporate boards.  Geoff received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College and his Masters from the University of Chicago. Geoff is currently the Regent for the State of Minnesota for the American College of Healthcare Executives. In his spare time\, he enjoys playing and recording music (rock and roll)\, mountain climbing\, and most seasonal sports.\n \nPanelists:\n \nDaniel McLaughlin\, M.H.A\, is the Director of the Center for Health and Medical Affairs at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis Minnesota. He is active in teaching\, research and speaking at the University with a special emphasis on health care operations and policy.  He helped establish and direct the National Institute of Health Policy at St. Thomas. From 1984 to 1992 he was the administrator and CEO of Hennepin County Medical Center – the level 1 Trauma center in Minneapolis which is ranked in the top 100 hospitals in the US by US World and News Report.   He served as chair of the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems and served on President Clinton’s Task force on Health Care Reform in 1993. He holds degrees in electrical engineering and health care administration from the University of Minnesota.   He is the author of management and textbooks for Heath Administration press which is a division of the American College of Healthcare Executives.\n \nBen Peltier is the Vice President of Legal and Federal Affairs for the Minnesota Hospital Association.  Ben is an experienced hospital attorney who has served as an in-house attorney for a large Minnesota health system and legal counsel to hospitals and physicians while in private practice at a Washington\, DC law firm. \nEarly in his career\, Ben managed health care policy issues for U.S. Representative John Boehner of Ohio. During his time on Boehner’s staff\, Ben worked on a variety of health reform topics including Medicare reform\, HIPAA\, and health insurance regulation. Ben received his law degree from George Mason University in Virginia and studied economics as an undergrad at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.  \n \n \n
