About the Speakers:


Joseph White


Joseph White, health care principal at CliftonLarsonAllen, specializes in physician groups and health care systems. He has over 30 years of experience in consulting, tax, and assurance services in the health care field.


He is also on faculty at the University of St. Thomas teaching in The Center for Health and Medical Affairs, the Physician Leadership College, The Executive MBA Program and the Mini-MBA in Medical Group Management. This teaching experience has taught him how to communicate healthcare financial issues and concepts to non-financial individuals. This ability has helped many clients gain insight and understanding.


Joe provides a unique combination of his strategic and financial skills. He brings the ability to see the “big picture” to a situation but to also understand the details and financial implications.


EXPERIENCE SERVING CLIENTS
Since 1982, Joe has been providing strategic and financial consulting, public accounting and reimbursement consultation for physician groups and health care organizations. He currently serves as the firm’s national leader of services to physician organizations and services for physician practices. Clientele includes large and small independent medical groups (single and multi-specialty), community based hospitals/health system and large integrated health care delivery systems. Joe has varied experience in strategic planning, performing feasibility studies, overseeing performance improvement, implementing system redesign and other organizational change for physician practices with revenues ranging from start-up practices to $1 billion.


Joe’s focus is helping physician practices be more successful. He serves as a financial advisor to the boards of medical groups, assists in financial performance improvement studies, valuation and buy-in and buy-out assistance, mergers and acquisitions, new service line development (ambulatory surgery center development, imaging centers) strategic planning and leadership and governance.


TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Joe has a wide foundation of technical expertise within the health care arena. He is the healthcare leader of consulting, audit, accounting, and tax services for physician practices for CliftonLarsonAllen. Joe has authored articles related to the health care subjects and speaks frequently on various healthcare issues at venues including Medical Group Management (MGMA), Radiology Business Management Association, and BONES -Orthopedic Administration Association.


EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT
Joe graduated from the University of Minnesota and received his bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting and his Masters degree in business from the University of St. Thomas. He is a licensed CPA and is a member of Medical Group Management Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Health Care Financial Management Association.

Greg Hart


Greg Hart is a principal in the firm of CliftonLarsonAllen, and serves as the firm’s leader of the health care consulting practice. He is also a past chairman of the firm’s Board of Directors.


 


Greg’s consulting practice focuses largely on strategic planning/positioning of health care organizations, health care mergers, acquisitions and affiliations, and strategic capital planning. Greg is also actively involved in financial and operations improvement engagements. Greg’s clients include academic medical centers, large community health care systems, rural health care providers, and physician practice organizations.


TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Greg’s background includes over twenty-five years of health care leadership and management experience. Before joining LarsonAllen in 1995, he served as the CEO (and COO) of the University of Minnesota Health System, an academic medical center in one of the most highly competitive health care markets in the country. Greg was also involved from a consulting perspective in the eventual merger of the University of Minnesota Hospital and the Fairview Health System.


EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT
Greg received his MHA degree from the University of Minnesota, and teaches extensively in the University of Minnesota MHA Program as well as in the health care graduate school programs at the University of St. Thomas. He has served on numerous health care governing boards, including the Minnesota Hospital Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, and the University Health System Consortium (UHC). He was formerly the President (Board Chair) of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association / Foundation for the Program in Healthcare Administration. Mr. Hart also currently serves on the Board of Portico Health Net, a non-profit organization with a mission of improving health care access.
