Creating a Culture of Innovation and New Innovations in Training: Game Based Teaching and Simulation

Medical Simulation Centers are fundamentally altering the education of healthcare professionals, while holding great promise to improve patient care and safety, clinical outcomes, operational efficiencies and mitigate risk -without touching a single patient.


 


Through a lively and interactive discussion, participants will learn about the need for innovating in healthcare and also have the opportunity to tour a state-of-the-art simulation center at the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing.


Program Learning Objectives: “Creating a Culture of Innovation”
1. Discuss the need for an innovation mind set to redesign health care delivery systems in light of current changes in policy and practice.
2. Discuss the administrative and leadership strategies that support the development of a culture of innovation and the application of directed creativity strategies to wicked questions and challenging issues in health care.

This seminar, intended for quality improvement teams in healthcare organizations, lays out the fundamentals of DirectedCreativity to healthcare innovation, that provides insights on basic methods. The workshop equips participants with skills to lead more creative change & quality improvement efforts in their organizations to accelerate transformation.
Upon application, please describe a quality improvement or redesign challenge that will serve as the focus for application of the DirectedCreativity Methods and ongoing quality improvement efforts.
