The uncertainty surrounding the future of the U.S. health delivery system and upheaval over the Affordable Care Act have compounded the already-complex challenges today’s healthcare leaders face. Effective executives must be cognizant of continually changing legal and regulatory issues in areas as diverse as billing compliance, patient rights, liabilities associated with HIT and the mandatory reporting of quality metrics.

Health law is a vast and complex field; this up-to-date session will highlight the most crucial information for busy healthcare executives. You will leave with a better understanding of the health laws that are critical for effective healthcare administration today.

Join us to hear details and implications of:

  • Current legal debates and initiatives coming from DC
  • No Surprises Act & the two transparency bills.
  • Status of site-neutral payments, ARU’s and other initiatives that impact providers
  • Attention to current cases in Federal courts and the potential fall out from last June’s Supreme Court opinion upholding the Affordable Care Act

As a nurse, attorney, and professional speaker Sarah is uniquely qualified to bring clarity about health care to providers and patients alike.

Sarah Freymann Fontenot, JD, is an adjunct professor for health law in the Department of Health Care Administration, Trinity University, San Antonio. A former nurse and practicing attorney, she is also a professional speaker, specializing in explaining how healthcare is evolving and what those changes mean for providers. Ms. Fontenot also has taught extensively for physician organizations—including the Texas Medical Association—and for ACHE, where she serves as faculty for the BOG Examination Review course, and is an instructor for ACHE’s online course “Health Law Essentials.” Previously Ms. Fontenot taught in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale Medical School, New Haven, Conn.
